Onyx is considered a semiprecious stone; one of its characteristics is a translucent stone.
It has a volcanic origin, originated by the accumulation of volcanic gases. The largest world producer of onyx is Mexico, where the largest deposit in America is also found in the “Comarca Lagunera”.
It is used mainly in decorative items, due to the attractiveness of its tonalities.
